JUKSEREI CREW

Meet the young and ambitious crew behind the Jukserei label.

Sit back, relax and enjoy the read as we introduce:

CHANETTE

Founder & Designer

Chanette has built up the Jukserei label to what it is now. From founding the
label as a hobby next to her full-time job in 2012, to hiring Anne as her first
employee and settling at the Choriner Studio in Berlin. It was her wish since
childhood to create a jewelry label with simple, affordable and nickel free pieces
and to grow organically with the right clients and partners.

Chanette has made the transformation from founder, to wife, to mother in the last
year and if that's not enough she fills her time between the business and diapers
with baking the most delicious cakes and pastries. She's the queen of hygge and
if there were 48 hours in a day, we bet she would start a papeterie business.
Oh, and did we mention she has a weak spot for everything christmas?

1. Coffee or tea?

Hocus pocus, I need coffee to focus.

2. When are you ultimately relaxed?

When I can spend Christmas at home in Denmark with my family. It's so nice to
relive my childhood during that period, keep the cosy traditions alive and show
them to my new little family. I love to make Danish Christmas cookies and
cakes like aebliskiver and watch Disney's Christmas Show. My husband and I also
love to get away to a small cottage in the middle of nowhere with a fireplace and
watch the snow fall outside while curling up on the couch with a blanket and
board games. Exactly like we did on our honeymoon.

3. Can you share a local recommendation?

I can really recommend Gobento in Prenzlauerberg where I live in Berlin. It's a tiny
Japanese place where they serve Japanese Bento boxes: a home-packed meal
typical in Japanese cuisine. Unlike the conventional restaurants, at Gobento you
can bring your own drinks, there is only one dish on the menu and it's reasonably
priced. It's creative, delicious and original. I'd recommend making a reservation
because it is a small place that fills up fast!

4. Most worn Jukserei piece?

That's a tough question since I only make pieces I love to wear! Right now my go
to piece is our Solar ear studs. With a one year old baby I don't always have much
time to get ready.  The Solar ear studs are something I can just  put on and feel
like I am a little dressed up even though I am not wearing fancy clothes or makeup.

ANNE

Manager & Assistant Designer

Anne joined Jukserei as the very first employee. Together with Chanette
she transformed Jukserei from a small living room label to a well known jewelry
brand. Now Anne, who is also Danish, is manager of Jukserei.  She makes sure
everything from the creative process, to design, logistics and customer service is
running smoothly; always keeping Jukserei's mission in mind to have quality as
the highest priority.

With her background in fashion, Anne has an eye for colors and textures and
continuously creates and shoots dazzling jewelry sets for Jukserei. She loves to
paint her apartment walls pink and most likely ends her day with sewing silky
kimonos while sipping on red wine and listening to smooth jazz. You could say
that Anne's the guardian of our taste buds here at the office, making sure there's a
weekly delivery of quality coffee from Fjord, home baked, crispy croissants and
sourdough bread from Albatross Bakery and the occasional Friday beers.

1. What are you listening to in following categories:

While riding your bike"Tiny Dancer" - Elton John
Red wine: Cocktail swing jazz, 20s jazz, 30s jazz
In the Morning: "Dreams" - Fleetwood Mac

2. Which is the latest CD you bought?

I bought my last two CDs at the same time three years ago. It was after a
jazz concert in a backroom, behind a red velvet carpet in a dark bar in Brooklyn,
NYC. The concert was amazing; French 20s - 40s music, played by cool, talented,
local musicians. The room was packed with nearly only women (and my
boyfriend) and I was caught up in the moment and by the surroundings. Therefore,
I had to support them and purchased both CDs. The band is called Les Chauds Lapins ;)

3. A local recommendation?

I moved to Neukölln two years ago. It is a Kiez that reminds me of the area I
was living in in Copenhagen for almost six years. I enjoy the open-minded, young
and multi-cultural spirit. It is very local and it makes me feel at home. If you are
into jazz and in Neukölln, check out Donau115. This tiny shoebox-sized jazz bar,
hosts intimate jazz concerts and sets a perfect stage for nights filled with red wine
and smooth tunes.

4. Most worn Jukserei piece?

I wear a lot of Jukserei jewelry every day ;)
Most worn are the classic Grumetta Rings.

ANNEMETTE

Online Shop & Customer Service

Annemette is the newest asset to the team! In an incredibly short amount of time
she became the uncrowned queen of our online shop and customer service. She
wraps and packs each order with love and care, communicates with our online
customers like a pro and creates organised systems for our storage.

Her red curly hair and fair skin give away her Danish roots but there is a lot more to
this woman than meets the eye. She’s currently learning to play the drums, loves
going to concerts and bikes more or less everywhere. She has this metropolitan
flair around her as she's currently calling LA, Berlin and Copenhagen her home.
The world is her oyster ;)

1. A good concert experience?

I recently went to see the Swedish singer, Alice Boman, and her band performing
at Roter Salon in Berlin. It was a beautiful, dreamy and compelling concert.
Everyone sat down on the floor to listen and there was a special atmosphere in the room.

2.What's for you the ultimate summer feeling?

When the weather is good I love to feel the freedom of riding my bike, feeling the
sun and fresh air on my face. Also, finding a good, quiet spot in a park or near the
water, listening to music or reading. This is what I associate with summer.

3. A local recommendation?

I live in Friedrichshain, Berlin, so when I feel like getting some fresh air I go out to
the area around Rummelsburger See, which is good for walks and chilling.

4. Most worn Jukserei piece?

KATLEEN

Marketing & Creative
Communications & PR

After living in Antwerp, Milan, Istanbul and Stockholm working with several
startups on marketing, design and communication, the Belgian Katleen joined the
Jukserei team in Berlin to grab our branding by the horns. From photo to
copywriting to graphic design, she helps bring our brand to life. In addition to this,
Katleen connects with our community and cooperative partners and translates the
Jukserei experience in the real world.

Her mind is programmed in social media tag lines and she might be addicted to
homemade soup. When not wandering around the depths of Instagram content,
Katleen hones her design skills creating interior objects or producing wonderful
little videos. She dreams of having her own sailboat one day, something we
can only support as long as we can sail along with her!

1. What's your ultimate summer feeling?

Salty sea water on my skin, eating my first watermelon of the summer season
with my face in the sun, road trips to lakes every single summer weekend
and freckles :)

2. Coffee or tea?

Everyone at the Jukserei office is a coffee junkie but I really LOVE tea!
I drink it all day long. I even have the habit of drinking 'Evening Tea' before going
to bed.

3. When are you ultimately relaxed?

Behind the steering wheel on a sailboat, when I feel the force by which we
are pulled through the water, and when I feel a strong connection to the elements
and nature. It's like being in a constant flow-state of mind.

4. Most worn Jukserei piece?

The jewelry I wear daily depends on the mood I am in. At the moment it's the
golden Round Pin. It's a piece I can wear beautifully on shirts and knits or even
on a black t-shirt to add a touch of elegance and bling without overdressing. It's
fun and unconventional!

JULIE

Wholesale & Content Creation

Since Julie joined Jukserei, she has been doing wonders for our online shop
customers, giving them the A-list treatment. Now she's doing exactly that for our
national and international wholesale market in addition to being responsible for
Nordic marketing.

We soon discovered her love and skill for photography which also made her our
in-house photographer, creating visuals with flair and style for Jukserei jewelry and
creating content for the Friends of Jukserei. No wonder this Danish lady has got
an eye for composition: in her free time she wanders around the Berlin U-bahn
stations doing her own art project Lines_Under, a study of lines and colors of the
Berlin underground.

1. What was the very first CD you bought?

It was Yabba-Dabba-Dance! 3 in 1995. It had The Flintstones on the cover. I was
obsessed with I'm a Scatman by Scatman John and Diskofil on the Danish version, haha!

2. Favourite drink?

Margarita!

3. What led you to Berlin?

My ultimate favourite feeling is travelling and the freedom that comes with it. After
having studied a semester abroad in Lima my feet were itching to go somewhere
new when I returned to Copenhagen. I always knew I had to live in Berlin at some
point, and the timing was just right! I packed my suitcase with an initial plan to
stay 6 months and I'm still here 5 years later. The city keeps giving me this holiday
feeling with its endless opportunities to explore. I love that Berlin is close to
Denmark yet so different in every way. It's diverse, cheap and offers tons of
great parties, art & food <3

JENNIE

Bookkeeper & In-house Chef

Jennie’s energy and enthusiasm is very hard to match. After having lived and
worked as a journalist for ZDF in five different countries worldwide while speaking
Chinese and Russian, this lady can move mountains! At Jukserei she's making
sure the foundations of our label are strong and reliable.

When not organising Jukserei’s books and systems or entertaining us with her
spontaneous life stories, Jennie jumps on her Holland bike to her plot of land
outside of Berlin where she cultivates her own veggies as part of the Bauerngarten
association. Here at the office we can only admire her for that, as she influenced
us with her love for bio-farming by cooking delicious and tasty bio lunches for the
team with vegetables from her own field.

1. What would be your super power if you were a superhuman?

If I was a superhuman my power would be making people speak or keep silent.
Imagine, talking with someone super annoying and I could press the "mute"
button. While I could turn on people with interesting stories to tell. A superpower
that suits my curious personality.

2. What’s for you your ultimate summer feeling?

Riding my bike in the countryside. Hiking in Portugal.

3. An important message?

Go people and garden! Grow and eat veggies. Chop wood. Get dirty.
Exhaust your body and sink into the grass.

4. Most worn Jukserei piece?

Punkt Ear Studs

ISAK

Producer of Good Luck Bracelets &
Quality Assurance

Isak is Chanette’s brother and like her inherited the creative genes from their
parents. In the most northern point of Denmark, in-between the sand dunes,
sits his beautiful country house and his glassware studio. There he assembles all
of Jukserei’s Good Luck Bracelets piece by piece, color by color. Isak spends
most of his time in his workshop creating colourful glassware like candleholders,
mobiles or plant hangers for his own label Isak Glas.

When jewelry arrives from our production facility in Italy, Isak drives down south to
Berlin to quality control every single piece of Jukserei jewelry. He has saved us so
many times! Whether it be building cabinets or shelves at the office, driving around
Berlin picking up things for Jukserei or lugging heavy things around for us, he is
always ready to help at the drop of a hat. He loves horses and is in fact an
educated pedagogue. We are lucky to have this man and his know-how to keep
an eye on our creations and our souls.

1. Coffee or tea?

Coffee!

2. What happened 10 years ago in your life?

I moved to Northern Denmark, Jutland.

3. Best concert experience?
